The Challenge

ASKIN became involved after architects from Warren and Mahoney saw ASKIN’s acoustic wall featuring the Rosanna Rib at Rosanna Train station, Melbourne.

ASKIN Performance Panels has experience and strength in both education and sporting sectors in Victoria and nationwide with projects such as Melbourne Arena, and Melbourne Girls College. Known for finding solutions, the ASKIN Panel team conducted a series of presentations and meetings with both Warren and Mahoney Architects and Adco Constructions. As a result, ASKIN Roofing and Exteriors was specified for the La Trobe’s Sports Park as it could provide the acoustic and aesthetic results wanted all within one panel system.

The Solutions

ASKIN Performance Panels worked with Procon Developments to design, specify, engineer and build a complete fire perfromance panel envelope solution.

ASKIN manufactured and installed XFLAM insulated panel using a unique pre-printed panel skin, not readily available to the Australian market.

The special graded steel called Printech has various finishes to choose from and differentiates itself with colour, look and feel, giving a more architectural appeal. In this instance, Procon Developments used Corten, Corten Grey and Burnt Woodgrain finish.

The use of ASKIN Exterior wall panels served as both an exterior façade and interior wall lining, meaning only one building product was required.

As well as supplying and installing the exterior walls, XFLAM was used for roofing, insulated box gutters and the internal cool rooms to provide a fully compliant and warranted system that ticked all the boxes for the end user.

With XFLAM panel used extensively throughout this project, the number of trades required and build time was greatly reduced. With ASKIN’s complete panel solution, there were minimal trades required than on a typical building of this nature.

The Results

ASKIN Performance Panels met the client’s needs of providing a unique and aesthetically appealing building that meet relevant building codes and insurance requirements, while maintaining the limited build time required.

Procon Developments have two new service station sites up and running, which includes a convenience store, fast food outlets and a car wash.
